Hillary Clinton Proves She’s Not A Big Fan Of Free Speech

Hillary Clinton almost won the presidency in 2016.

But her lust for power was thwarted by the surprise victory of Donald Trump.

America dodged a huge bullet due to Hillary’s troubling position on free speech.

Hillary Clinton had many flaws as a candidate.

Beyond her controversial past, Hillary held policy positions that should concern Americans.

She was against the decision in D.C. v. Heller, which upheld Second Amendment gun rights.

The narrow 5-4 split shows how tenuous our rights can be if the wrong people seize power.

But the biggest issue with Hillary was her flimsiness on the issue of free speech.

She was against the decision in Citizens United v. FEC, which determined that speech from corporations was permitted.

However, the vein runs much deeper than that.

In 2008, Hillary wanted to ban a film called Hillary: The Movie because it was a scathing rebuke of her.

The pretext for banning it was that it constituted political speech, and thus was subject to campaign finance laws.

If not for the decision in the Citizens United case, all political speech that required money would be under government scrutiny.

That could’ve led to mass censorship of books, films, newspapers, et cetera.

In 2016, several newspapers, including The New York Times, broke from custom and offered a naked endorsement of Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump.

If Hillary had her way, she would’ve censored the reverse endorsement.

And her aversion to free speech doesn’t stop there.

As Secretary of State, Hillary was a big supporter of U.N. Human Rights Council Resolution 16/18, which purports to ban “any advocacy of religious hatred against individuals that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence.”

While that may seem innocuous, the resolution was crafted by the 57 countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the largest bloc of the U.N.

This is essentially an Islamic blasphemy law, and the effects have trickled into the West.

In 2014, Paul Weston—a candidate for British Parliament — was arrested for giving a public speech in which he quoted Winston Churchill on the topic of Islam.

Weston “was arrested on suspicion of religious or racial harassment.”

The idea of a Britton getting arrested for quoting Churchill is mind-boggling.

America isn’t yet at the point of locking people up for blasphemy, but the intent to police free speech is very clear.

This came to fruition after the horrific Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando when an Islamic jihadist killed 41 people.

In keeping with the spirit of Resolution 16/18, Attorney General Loretta Lynch redacted all mentions of Islam from the killer’s calls to 9-1-1.

That Hillary Clinton wasn’t an ardent critic of the resolution speaks to her unstable stance on the issue of free speech.

Resolution 16/18 is in clear opposition to the First Amendment.

In a recent interview after the contentious fight over the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Hillary said, “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy everything you stand for.

Hillary apparently stands for the erosion of free speech.

It’s chilling to think about what she would’ve done with the levers of power.
