Democrats hauled Michael Cohen before Congress to testify in a nationally televised circus.
But Cohen and the Democrats made one key mistake.
And now this piece of paper may have just ruined the Democrats’ plans to impeach Trump.
Cohen testified on February 27th before the House Oversight Committee before he heads off to jail in May for lying to Congress during his 2017 testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee.
During his testimony, Republicans trashed Cohen’s credibility by pointing out he was a convicted liar and a bitter former employee that didn’t get the plum Trump administration job he originally sought.
Cohen tried to fight off that allegation by claiming he never wanted to work in the White House.
“I was extremely proud to be the personal attorney for the President of the United States of America,” Cohen testified. “I did not want to go to the White House.”
That was a lie.
Cohen went on CNN shortly after the election and discussed his job prospects for the incoming Trump administration.

Republican Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio and Mark Meadows of North Carolina picked up on Cohen’s lie.
They fired off a letter to the Department of Justice referring Cohen for criminal prosecution.
“Mr. Cohen’s testimony is material to the Committee’s assessment of Mr. Cohen’s motive to monetize his former association with President Trump,” Jordan and Meadows wrote in their letter to the DOJ. “It is essential that the Department of Justice investigate these remarkable contradictions between Mr. Cohen, the SDNY prosecutors, and the public accounts of witnesses with firsthand information.”
Democrats rushed to cover for Cohen.
“Mr. Cohen testified truthfully before the House Oversight Committee. He took full responsibility for his guilty pleas. He also backed up much of his testimony with documents. It may not be surprising that two pro-Trump Committee members known have a baseless criminal referral,” Cohen’s lawyer Lanny Davis claimed in a statement.
Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings also defended Cohen’s blatantly false testimony.
“I don’t have any knowledge of that. He said he wasn’t (lobbying for a job) and I believe him,” Cummings stated. “I mean, think about it. He could make a helluva lot more money, a helluva lot more money, outside the White House than in the White House. I mean, I don’t know why you would want to do that.”
Robert Mueller jailed Cohen for lying to Congress about how long negotiations for Trump Tower Moscow went on.
Cohen told that lie to try and help Donald Trump.
But now that Cohen told lies in front of Congress to hurt President Trump, will the Department of Justice apply the law in an even-handed fashion?
Recent history suggests not.
The Department of Justice is at the heart of the Deep State.
And while Trump political appointees may fill the top political positions, there are thousands of career bureaucrats and prosecutors that actually do the day-to-day work that make the agency function.
And these career “civil servants” are the glue that binds the Deep State conspiracy against President Trump together.
