He was once considered a top Democrat candidate for 2020.
But the latest news has this one-time presidential candidate fearing a long prison sentence.
An international sex ring may be tied to this “creepy” lawyer.
It’s been a bad few weeks for “Creepy Porn Lawyer” Michael Avenatti. And it now appears to be getting even worse.
Ever since he showed up on the scene with porn star Stormy Daniels, Avenatti has been accused of caring only about getting his name in the limelight.
Many legal experts saw his representation of Daniels as nothing more than a publicity stunt concocted by Daniels in an attempt to revive her porn career.
And, according to many observers, Avenatti was very eager to play along.
As the Stormy Daniels story died out Avenatti began talking about running for the Democrat nomination for president in 2020 and at one point was even seen by some as a possible frontrunner in a very crowded field.
Then it all started going bad for Avenatti. First, as people started realizing he was just performing a number of publicity stunts, they began to lose interest.
And just last week Avenatti was arrested on charges of an extortion scheme he ran against Nike allegedly with his sometime running partner, celebrity attorney Mark Geragos, who also happens to be one of the lawyers representing Jussie Smollett.
Now Avenatti is being implicated in the very controversial, high-profile NXIVM sex cult case involving the heiress of the Seagram’s fortune Clare Bronfman as well as former “Smallville” star Allison Mack.
A hearing was held last week in response to two federal lawsuits against Avenatti, one in New York and another in California.
One of these lawsuits also includes Geragos.
In last week’s court hearing it was confirmed that Avenatti was involved in the sex cult case along with Geragos.
The NXIVM “sex cult” case stems from the notorious NXIVM “philosophical society” headed by Keith Raniere, who was known by his followers as “Vanguard”, and co-founder Nancy Salzman.
In addition to allegedly bilking millions of dollars from thousands of unsuspecting people, this multi-level marketing company offered personal and professional enrichment seminars.
They also allegedly delved into some bizarre practices and rituals; evidence has come out of a sex cult within NXIVM led by Mack.
Women in this cult were allegedly “initiated” through mental and physical torture, blackmail photographs, forced sex with Raniere and even branding.
According to actress Sarah Edmondson, who was involved in the “Jness” track of NXIVM, the cost was $15,000 for three eight-day training sessions to teach women how to be properly subservient to men.
Edmondson wrote a detailed account published by Vice recounting her experiences in the cult. This was initially done through a process of penance, largely through the reduction in calories they were allowed to consume.
According to Edmondson, things took a much darker, more overtly sexual tone when nude photos were taken of them by Lauren Salzman, the daughter of co-founder Nancy Salzman. They were then used as “collateral” to force the women into a “new program” exclusively for hand-picked women.
This ended up being the group Mack oversaw for Raniere. And this was where the women “learned” to become Raniere’s “submissive sex slaves” and were branded.
Trials for the ring leaders are scheduled to begin soon and given his own current legal problems it is unlikely Avenatti is still involved.
