Nevada is now set to become the 15th state to abandon the Constitution and rig next year’s presidential election.
With the stroke of a pen, Nevada’s Governor could be sealing Trump’s fate.
Because this Nevada legislation just crushed Trump’s reelection chances.
Nevada is likely to become the 15th Democrat-run state to enact legislation changing the way its electoral votes are allocated.
This misguided and arguably unconstitutional legislation would force Nevada’s electoral votes to be allocated based on the “winner” of the national popular vote during a presidential election.
The proposal passed the state Senate this week and is now sitting on the desk of Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak.
While Gov. Sisolak has not publicly indicated his position on the multi-state effort designed to elect presidents by the popular vote, rather than the tally of Electoral College votes, most observers expect him to sign it into law.
The Nevada Assembly approved the measure in April.
Should enough states sign on to this and the courts uphold the legislation, it would mean presidential campaigns forevermore will be controlled by big, liberal states like New York, California and Illinois, while leaving the vast majority of the American states with no say.
If signed into law, Nevada would join the so-called “National Popular Vote Interstate Compact,” an agreement between 14 states and the District of Columbia that seeks to ensure that the winner of the popular vote is elected president.
The pact’s stated objective would only be achieved when the states that adopt the legislation collectively have 270 or more electoral votes.
The number of electoral votes between the group currently is 189, just 81 short of that goal.
So far, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state and the District of Columbia have signed up for the pact.
Supporters of the compact cite the elections of President Trump and George W. Bush, who both won the presidency while losing the popular vote in 2016 and 2000, and many Democrats have advocated for a change to the way state electoral votes are allocated.
Recently, some high-profile Democrats, including presidential candidates vying for the party’s presidential nomination in 2020, have called for the complete abolition of the Electoral College, saying it is an “archaic system” antithetical to a more direct democracy.
These modern-day socialists fail to understand that the United States is not now, nor has it ever been a democracy. In fact, the Electoral College was created by the founders to make sure it never became a direct democracy.
Should the socialists get their way, Montana farmers and Kentucky coal miners will be forever ruled by Hollywood liberals and New York socialists.
It is one more step in the left’s never-ending struggle to take over and shred the Constitution on their way to a socialist utopia.
There is good news, because many state legislatures are done for the year, the anti-Constitution forces are running out of time to get enough states to sign on in time for it to take effect for the 2020 election.
However, pro-Constitution forces must be vigilant, because though the socialists wrap this effort in the flag of Never-Trumpism, they are in it for the long haul.
