Jeff Sessions resigned as Attorney General the day after the midterm election.
Sessions lost Donald Trump’s confidence because he allowed the Mueller investigation to take shape.
But his actual betrayal was far worse than anyone thought and the way Sessions stabbed President Trump in the back will take your breath away.
Jeff Sessions’ tenure as Attorney General was thrown into tumult right off the bat.
Barely two months into the Trump administration, Sessions recused himself from the Russian probe after the Washington Post published a story that Sessions did not disclose a meeting in his Senate office with the Russian ambassador.
Sessions met with the Ambassador in his capacity as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and was being entirely truthful when he did not list the meeting as a part of his background materials before his confirmation hearings.
But Democrats and the fake news media pounced and even floated the idea Sessions was a secret Russian agent who concealed the meeting as part of a global plot to rig the 2016 election.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein assumed day to day oversight over the Russia probe and eventually appointed Robert Mueller to lead the rigged witch hunt.
Trump rightfully lost all faith in Sessions right then and there.
The President reasoned that Sessions knew he would have to recuse himself and he should have been upfront with Trump about that from the start.
That would have allowed the President to pick someone to be his Attorney General who wouldn’t be compromised by a Deep State smear campaign.
Unfortunately, Sessions’ treachery only got worse.
It recently came to light that the FBI launched a counterintelligence investigation into the President as revenge for Trump firing James Comey.
FBI agents such as Lisa Page also testified to Congress that the FBI launched a silent coup against the President because Trump rejected the Washington consensus that American foreign policy should focus on endless war in the Middle East.
However, at the end of the day the FBI is not an independent agency.
The Bureau reports to the Department of Justice.
And that means Attorney General Jeff Sessions would have first-hand knowledge that the FBI was working to destabilize the American government with a politically motivated witch hunt.
Not only would that mean Sessions knew about the investigation, but that he approved of it and allowed the FBI to steal democracy from the American people under the cover of darkness.
Some conservatives fondly recalled Sessions time running the DOJ because he loyally implemented the President’s Make America Great Again immigration agenda.
Sessions also rolled back Barack Obama’s misguided transgender guidelines.
But when push came to shove on the most important issue of the day – who determines America’s national destiny, the unelected agents of the FBI and Deep State or the voters and their duly elected representatives? – Sessions cast his lot with the forces seeking to steal America’s sovereignty from its rightful owners.
