It did not take long for the fake news media to make the tragic shooting in New Zealand about Donald Trump.
The President’s enemies quickly worked to spin the horrific massacre to their political advantage.
And the New Zealand shooting could have this awful consequence for Donald Trump.
A deranged gunman murdered 50 innocents in shootings at two New Zealand mosques.
Normally the fake news and Democrats love to use mass shootings because it allows them to use emotional blackmail to push gun grabs.
But since this tragedy took place in a foreign country the left could not play that card.
Instead, they turned their attention to Donald Trump and free speech.
The killer posted a rambling 74-page manifesto that included references to “meme culture” that became popular in the 2016 election.
Some pundits believe Trump supporters’ ability to control the online discourse about the 2016 contest through clever memes and jokes helped propel Trump to the Republican nomination and then the White House.
The Washington swamp and fake news media is determined to never allow anything like 2016 to ever happen again.
So they want to shut down any avenue for Trump supporters to go around the fake news media lies and anti-Trump propaganda.
At first, that took the form of colluding with social media companies to clamp down on the spread of so-called “fake news” which led sites like Facebook to censor conservative news sites by suppressing their reach.
Now many Trump supporters believe this led to Democrats calling for speech controls to silence “meme culture.”
The fake news is already telegraphing that the left will exploit the New Zealand tragedy to silence Trump supporters online.
Abby Ohlheiser wrote in the Washington Post, “The manifesto is a result of a life lived in the worst parts of the Internet, where the most vile thoughts can be expressed through, and alongside, moronic inside jokes. But experts have warned that this juxtaposition is not one of the harmful and the harmless. Extremist beliefs and edgy meme culture work together online to reach larger audiences. The manifesto isn’t a valuable look inside the mind of a mass murderer, and the memes he referenced are not a separate curiosity. Instead, the gunman created a press release for racism.”
The left will point to the New Zealand shooter’s manifesto – where he ranted about Muslims and immigrants – as the type of speech that leads to violence and must be restricted.
Tech companies are not government agencies.
Since they are private companies they are not subject to providing users First Amendment protections for freedom of speech.
Because sites like Facebook, Google and Twitter are so big and own such a large share of the marketplace, there is no chance for a competitor to offer an alternative.
Americans are stuck with the social media platforms that currently exist.
And they are by – and largely staffed by – radical leftists that hate conservatives.
That means the left can eliminate conservative views from the internet with the push of a button and no one can do a thing about it.
Social media companies can create an all-powerful and unaccountable online police state to cleanse the internet of conservatives.
The New Zealand shooter’s manifesto and live streaming his act of madness on social media will provide Big Tech with the pretext to censor conservatives online.
And the fake news media is already nudging them in that direction.
