Donald Trump Attacks Something Most Left-Leaning Californians Love to Death

The state of California is a paragon of left-wing fantasy, drunk on power and free of the tethers of rationality and common sense that prevent it from imploding.

In the past year, they’ve passed Nazi-like laws requiring forced vaccinations, they’ve implemented a form of gun control that requires ID for ammo purchases, and that’s just the tip of the socialist iceberg.

Recently, California passed another outlandish law that Trump just viciously attacked.

When it comes to “protecting” the environment at the expense of the citizenry, California is the absolute worst.

Who can forget stories of people being kicked off their land, or having their farms seized just to save some species of a minnow?

In their quest to make even bigger idiots of themselves, California recently passed new emissions guidelines that make it so auto manufacturers have to create specialized cars for the California market.

Automakers balked at the law. They claim they shouldn’t need to do any more than follow the federal guidelines on emissions standards.

Coincidentally, Trump agrees.

He’s been quite vocal about how ridiculous it is for California to pass such a law.

He notes that their quest for environmental protection doesn’t really do much for the environment in the first place, yet harms the economy as well as the free market.

And now he’s planning on revoking their legal authority requiring automakers to meet a standard the rest of the country doesn’t have to meet.

Trump’s new policy doesn’t just affect emissions standards either. Trump decided to go “bigly” and will make it so California cannot mandate automakers to do anything beyond what the federal government requires.

In addition, President Trump has controversially decided to rollback several Obama-era regulations.

He’s now considering removing a regulation that says by 2025 automakers need to make vehicles with an average fuel economy of 54.5 miles per gallon.

Instead, Trump proposes a more realistic number of 37 mpg.

If automakers want to make more fuel-efficient vehicles, that’s entirely up to them, but Trump will not enforce a mandate that would be detrimental to the auto industry.

California politicians are furious that Trump would single them out and prevent them from passing laws that harm people and the economy.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Gov. Gavin Newsom claimed Trump had a “political vendetta” against California:

It’s a move that could have devastating consequences for our kids’ health and the air we breathe if California were to roll over. But we will not — we will fight this latest attempt and defend our clean car standards,” he said.

California will undoubtedly defend its current laws, as Attorney General Xavier Becerra told The Times.

California will continue its advance toward a cleaner future,” he said. “We’re prepared to defend the standards that make that promise a reality.

It’s fine and all to try and protect the environment… but to do so at the expense of commerce and the free market is another thing altogether.

Trump’s right and that’s all there is to it.
