Hillary Clinton would probably prefer that everyone quit talking about her for at least a moment.
Not because she doesn’t enjoy being the center of attention, but because she needs a few more weeks to pass so she can do some very important work repairing her tarnished image.
And after she finds out what Bannon said about her, you’ll understand why.
Steve Bannon may not be helping Trump strategize his way to a 2020 win, but that doesn’t mean he won’t help give his former boss a leg-up over the competition.
And Hillary won’t like it.
Here’s what happened.
Not that long ago, billionaire Michael Bloomberg entered the 2020 presidential race.
Though the move isn’t necessarily ill-advised, for Bloomberg to enter at such a late phase certainly adds a bit of chaos leading up to the Democratic primary.
And for the past few months, the Democrat Party has been in disarray.
Not only does the crowded field leave little idea as to who will get the nomination, it’s also exposed the obvious corruption between the Democrats and the media.
Bloomberg entering the race makes things even more convoluted…
And as Steve Bannon pointed out, Hillary is likely to use this lack of clarity as an opportunity to join the 2020 race.
By pointing out her strategy so boldly, Bannon may have thrown Clinton under the bus and given Trump an added edge over his infamous 2016 adversary.
Appearing on Fox News “Sunday Morning Futures,” Bannon told hosts that Clinton doing the talk-show circuit again (Hillary was recently on Howard Stern’s podcast) was enough to confirm that the former First Lady could soon enter the race.
“Hillary Clinton is waiting for her shot to come in and say, ‘I’m going to save the Democratic Party,’ that Michael Bloomberg is a liberal or moderate Republican. He’s not a Democrat,” he said.
He went on to say that the reason Clinton is “waiting in the wings” to enter the race is because there is no viable candidate running right now, but if she bides her time, she can enter and surreptitiously claim her crown.
Obviously, the establishment Democrats would love it if Hillary entered.
The current batch of frontrunners would get steamrolled by Trump in 2020, so they need a candidate who’ll be able to stand up against him and his voters.
Although Clinton has demurred several times when asked if she’ll run again, one of her top aides later said that the chance of a Clinton run is “not zero.”
For Bannon to reveal Hillary’s “playbook” like this has to be upsetting to her.
She’s waited patiently for the right time to stick it to Donald.
She’s held her tongue and been a snake in the grass… and no snake enjoys someone else disturbing their chance to strike.
