If you’re getting sick of Facebook, you aren’t alone.
The gargantuan social media platform has become one of the most powerful tools to spread misinformation, slander, and ad-hominem attacks.
And Facebook just put their hypocrisy on full display after deeming this anti-Trump company as an “arbiter of the truth.”
Social media giants are attacking our first amendment rights at every turn.
In late May, Twitter slapped a warning label on one of President Trump’s tweets, cautioning readers that their “fact checkers” found “no evidence” that nationwide mail-in voting would increase voter fraud.
They also flagged another of Trump’s tweets as “glorifying violence” because he said “when the looting starts, the shooting starts” in response to the violence happening in America’s streets.
But then, the pot calling the kettle black, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that privately-owned digital platforms should not act as the “arbiter of the truth.”
Zuckerberg said on Fox News, “I just believe strongly that Facebook shouldn’t be the arbiter of truth of everything that people say online. Private companies probably shouldn’t be, especially these platform companies, shouldn’t be in the position of doing that.”
Meanwhile, over the last few months, Facebook’s “fact-checkers” have proven to be heavily biased against President Trump and maintain strict control by flagging posts they feel fall outside of their narrative bias.
In fact, now Facebook is testing a new feature that will integrate the anti-Trump Wikipedia into search results.
This new feature will help combat “misinformation” on Facebook and will prioritize Facebook’s information in the search results.
A report about this upcoming feature said:
“Facebook Search will also direct users toward its own features when doing so is more beneficial, it appears. For instance, a search for “covid” or “covid-19” will return Facebook’s own COVID-19 Information Center at the top of the search results, not a data-powered side panel about the disease. Google, by comparison, returns a coronavirus map, cases overview and CDC information in its Knowledge Panel.”
These platforms having the power to control what information people are receiving is truly the definition of propaganda and it’s unprecedentedly dangerous.
