In the latest bizarre twist of fate, social media giant Facebook is now the target of boycott bullies.
Facebook finds themselves under fire from the woke ‘Cancel Culture’ mob for the “crime” of allowing free speech.
And it seems only a matter of time until Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg gives in to the loony left completely.
There was a time when the left seemed to support free speech more than any other issue.
From anti-American and anti-Christian movies, literature, and art, to pornography, free love and flag burning – the left supported it all.
In fact, Americans who opposed this say-and-do-anything expressionism were told “free speech means accepting and even supporting the right of people to say things you find offensive and abhorrent.”
Oh, how the times they are a changing.
Now, it’s the left who’s in favor of banning books, tearing down statues and monuments, getting reporters, editors, teachers, and others fired, and banning advertising for things they find offensive.
They are tearing down monuments – and not just the Confederate monuments. They’ve torn down or defaced the statues of Woodrow Wilson, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln – even one of blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan.
It was only a matter of time before they would turn on their own.
And this time it’s the socialist supporting and funding platform, Facebook.
Last week, six left-wing organizations including the NAACP, Anti-Defamation League, and Common Sense called on Facebook advertisers to pause their ad spending on Facebook for the month of July.
The groups stated their efforts are in response to “Facebook’s long history of allowing racist, violent and verifiably false content to run rampant on its platform.”
And just recently, outdoor clothing company Patagonia joined other companies like The North Face and REI in saying they plan to stop advertising on Facebook in support of “#StopHateForProfit.”
Patagonia said they will “pull all ads on Facebook and Instagram, effective immediately, through at least the end of July, pending meaningful action from the social media giant.”
“For too long, Facebook has failed to take sufficient steps to stop the spread of hateful lies and dangerous propaganda on its platform.”
Patagonia has a history of being vocal in the political sphere – the company sued President Donald Trump a few years ago after he rolled back protections on national monuments.
Of course, Patagonia has refused to explain how it’s fighting the attack by the radical leftist mobs on national monuments today.
Meanwhile, The North Face announced, “We are pausing all domestic paid advertising with Facebook and Instagram through the end of July in an effort to support the implementation of stricter policies to stop racist, violent or hateful content and misinformation from circulating on the Facebook platform specifically.”
Speaker Nancy Pelosi, of course, had to weigh in on the issue.
She literally begged (threatened) advertisers to use their “tremendous leverage” to push Facebook to crack down on so-called “disinformation.”
We will keep you updated on this story as Facebook plans to “take actions” soon.
