The never-ending Antifa riots continue throughout the nation, leaving destruction and death in cities and towns around America. One city hit hard has been Chicago, where liberal Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot has decided to let the city burn, except with one exception.
Mayor Lightfoot has now banned Antifa riots – but only on her block. There is no question Chicago’s embattled leftist Mayor Lori Lightfoot has become her own walking clown show.
First, she famously shut down the windy city and put Chicagoans on lockdown supposedly out of Coronavirus fears.
But then, as Deep State politicians will do, she broke her own lockdown rules – and went to get her hair done.
When asked about the stark hypocrisy, she laughed it off and explained that as Mayor she has to look good for TV.
Meanwhile hundreds of Chicago businesses had to close their doors forever because of Lightfoot’s draconian and arbitrary forced business shutdowns.
Then, when the rioting started, Mayor Lightfoot joined her liberal allies with the now famous (and ridiculous) mantra that all the rioting, looting, arson, robbery, rape, and murder are just part of a “mostly peaceful protest.”
As the city began to burn, the murder rate went up, businesses were vandalized, and bands of terrorist Antifa thugs roamed freely through the streets.
And Mayor Lightfoot did nothing. That is until they came for her.
In reality, Antifa and BLM thugs couldn’t care less that she’s a “progressive” mayor. They only want death and destruction.
So Mayor Lightfoot made two decisions regarding her own neighborhood.
The Chicago Tribune reported last week that the Windy City has effectively banned all protests on Lightfoot’s street, including peaceful ones.
According to an email sent by the district’s police commander, officers assigned to enforce the Mayor’s directive were told to tell protesters “that it is against the city code and state law to protest” and that they must “leave immediately.”
Further instructions said that after one warning is given, the street “should be locked down.”
Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara told the Chicago Sun-Times that as many as 140 police officers have been assigned to the Mayor’s home protection detail.
In fact, the police presence is so over the top one of Lightfoot’s neighbors came up with the name “Fort Lori” to describe the scene.
But Mayor Lightfoot defended the hypocritical actions, telling reporters last Thursday, “Given the threats that I have personally received. Given the threats to my home and my family, I’m gonna do everything to make sure that they are protected. I make no apologies whatsoever.”
“We have a right in our home to live in peace,” she added. “Suffice it to say that every single day, there is something that pops up. There are specific threats to my person, to my wife and to our home.”
Of course, the order to ban protests near Mayor Lightfoot’s home comes as the police in Chicago are already stretched to their limit and violent protests have literally left sections of the city looking like a war zone.
But so long as Lightfoot and her wife are safe, the rest of Chicago’s citizens are fair game.
