One thing Donald Trump has been successful with these last four years is rooting out Deep State corruption.
Nowhere has that corruption run deeper than in the Department of Justice.
Now, Joe Biden is furious that one Deep State official has resigned for this shocking reason.
Barrack Obama and Joe Biden oversaw arguably the most corrupt, vicious administration in American history.
Perhaps their most corrupt actions involved the politicization of the DOJ, FBI, IRS, and FEC in attempt to go after conservative organizations and candidates.
And one of the most ruthless, contemptible prosecutors in this cabal of corruption has been a little-known DOJ official named Richard Pilger.
During the Obama administration, Pilger worked hand-in-fist with the IRS’s Lois Lerner on finding new ways to attack conservative, Christian, and libertarian organizations.
And it was Pilger who spearheaded the legal assault on the Ron Paul campaign over a one-line mistake in an FEC report.
This was considered a test case for future actions taken by the DOJ against conservative campaigns.
Along the way, Pilger left a trail of corruption, lies, falsified records, and even subornation of perjury in his zeal to convict three liberty activists in the hopes to get to Dr. Ron Paul.
One would think that a prosecutor so concerned with the integrity of the election process would be willing to investigate the overwhelming evidence of election fraud in last week’s election.
Instead, shortly after Attorney General Bill Barr announced he was authorizing an investigation into the “substantial claims” of election fraud, Richard Pilger resigned as Director of the Elections Crimes Branch.
In a blustery and boastful email to his colleagues, Pilger wrote, “Having familiarized myself with the new policy and its ramifications, and in accord with the best tradition of the John C. Keeney Award for Exceptional Integrity and Professionalism (my most cherished Departmental recognition), I must regretfully resign from my role as Director of the Election Crimes Branch.”
He added, “I have enjoyed very much working with you for over a decade to aggressively and diligently enforce federal criminal election law, policy, and practice without partisan fear or favor. I thank you for your support in that effort.”
Of course, lost on Pilger is the hypocrisy of it all.
He is famous for going after liberty-minded candidates and organizations while ignoring blatant abuses by Democrats and liberals.
For example, going back to the Ron Paul case, the lawsuit was in essence over a $73,000 payment to a contractor, who then paid a subcontractor.
This is something done in every single campaign.
In fact, Obama’s own campaign manager was prepared to testify that the Obama campaign did this very thing – to the tune of tens of millions of dollars.
But Pilger was undeterred and convinced the judge to not allow the testimony.
While normally the resignation of someone as evil and conniving as Richard Pilger would be cause for celebration, it’s important to note that Pilger will continue on at the DOJ – just not as Director of the Election Crimes Branch.
Thus the task of draining the swamp remains.
