The FBI’s conduct has come under a microscope.
Under former Director James Comey, the Bureau became the domestic spying arm of the Democrat Party.
.But what one FBI agent got away with will make Donald Trump’s blood boil.
Donald Trump has consistently said that the FBI rigs the system for their political friends and against their enemies.
There is no clearer example of this than a recent Office of Inspector General report describing the misconduct of one senior FBI agent.
The Office of Inspector General found that the FBI agent accepted two tickets to a sporting event from a TV reporter.
The agent told investigators he paid for the tickets.
But that was a lie.
Investigators also discovered the agent accepted two other tickets to sporting events from reporters that he claimed he paid for.
They found no evidence that this was the case.
The Office of Inspector General detailed his alleged lies in their report.
They wrote:
The OIG investigation substantiated, and the senior FBI official acknowledged, that the official accepted two tickets to a professional sports event from the TV correspondent without paying the correspondent for the tickets. The senior FBI official initially maintained to the OIG in an interview under oath that the official had paid for the tickets, but five days later admitted to the OIG that the official did not. The OIG found that the senior FBI official lacked candor with the OIG in several respects about the tickets. In addition, the OIG found that the senior FBI official had previously accepted one ticket from the same correspondent to another professional sports event, and one ticket from a different news reporter to another sports event. Although the senior FBI official stated that the official had paid the correspondent and reporter for these tickets, the OIG found no evidence in the senior FBI official’s communications with the correspondent or the reporter using FBI devices or systems to confirm that the official paid for the tickets, and the senior FBI official provided the OIG with no evidence to show that the official had paid for the tickets.
But that was not the worst part.
Even though investigators caught the FBI agent lying, they refused to press charges.
The Office of Inspector General wrote:
Criminal prosecution was declined. The senior FBI official retired from the FBI during the OIG’s investigation.
Robert Mueller charged Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn with one count of making false statements to the FBI even though former FBI Director James Comey told Congress the agents who interviewed him thought he was being truthful.
Mueller also indicted former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos for forming false statements to the FBI about when a professor approached him claiming the Russians had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton.
The FBI sent one simple message.
They take care of their own and throw the book at the Deep State’s political enemies.
So-called “journalists” whine when Donald Trump attacks the FBI for being biased.
They claim he is undermining institutions.
But the reality is the American people can see full well what is going on at the FBI.
